Japanese Crepe -- The Ultimate Review!

Are you hungry for dessert?

Hello, everyone! Do you like sweet dessert? Well, I do! Today, I’d like to talk about Japanese Crepe. Before we start, like usual, I’d like to introduce you what crepe basically is.

Crepe is originally from France. That word itself originated from the Latin word, ‘crispa’ which means curled. Crepe, in France is a type of thin layered pancake. It can be served both in savory flavor nor the sweet flavour. It can also be a dessert or a breakfast menu in restaurants. The savory flavor Crepe is usually eaten for breakfast, while the sweet one is for the dessert.

Then, what’s the difference between the French Crepe and the Japanese one? To be fair, I will now state some facts about Crepe in Japan, and you can conclude by yourself.

1.       Crepe in Japan is mostly eaten as a dessert or even as a snack.
2.       Crepe in Japan is mostly wrapped into a cone to fit in your hand.
3.       Crepe in Japan is mostly known as a street food.
4.       Crepe in Japan is popular around females, usually young women.
5.       Crepe in Japan is usually sold with cute names to attract customers.
6.       Crepe in Japan is usually filled with whipped cream, if not a whole lot of it.
7.       Crepe stores in Japan usually have plastic models of the menus in front of the shops.

There should be a bit more of it, if you know more about the difference, do tell in the comment section below. Other than that, I will tell you about my own experience eating a serving of Japanese Crepe.

So, a few months ago, I went to Gandaria City Mall and found a Japanese Creperie, MOMI & TOY’S. It is a Tokyo based Creperie that sells Japanese style Crepes. I ordered the Mixberry Lemon Cheese Crepe.

It was served in a plate, the Crepes were rolled, with cut strawberries, blueberries and honey lemon, added with cheddar cheese. It was also served with an additional of one scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side of the plate. Like I said before, Japanese Crepe is usually filled whipped cream, this one had a lot of them inside the rolled Crepe.

The Crepe had a really soft texture, and it was chewy as well. It was really perfect for a dessert! The fruits suit the Crepe really well, they gave a fresh splash of sour splats in the sweet waves of delicacy. The whipped cream was really a perfect fit in the rolled Crepe. Overall, the Crepe I ordered was really a heavenly treat!

That's all for today, thank you for reading! I hope you can also have a taste of the Japanese Crepe as it's really an amazing food. Have a great day!
